Juniors - Training and Coaching

Royal Palm’s award winning program is recognized all over Florida and the United States.  Under the direction of Don Petrine, Jr. the Royal Palm Junior Program is designed for every age level from Tiny Tots to National Champions.  In 2004, Don Petrine, Jr. was awarded the USA Tennis Florida’s Coach of the Year and Royal Palm Junior, Jennifer Stevens, was Player of the Year.  Royal Palm’s Junior Program is famous for instilling a love for the game at a young age and developing these children into champions.  Currently Royal Palm Juniors hold the #1 ranking in 4 Divisions state wide: Girls 18, Boys 18, Boys 12, and Boys 10.  No other club in Florida has ever achieved this.  Professionals and officials all over Florida recognize the classic style, work ethic, and sportsmanship taught at Royal Palm. Our program is tiered in the following way: Tiny Tots, 5-7 years old.  M W F 3:30-4:30 PM This program introduces children into tennis.  The development of racquet skills, eye-hand and foot coordination are emphasized in a positive, fun and reinforcing environment.   Beginners, 5-12 years old.  M W F 4:30-6:00 PM This program emphasizes an overall introduction to tennis rules, etiquette, and scoring.  It also emphasizes stroke development and rallying skills in preparation for non-competitive match play. Intermediate Tues/Thurs 4:00-6:00 PM This level can demonstrate strokes and rally and are ready for novice match play.  Clinics emphasize repetitive stroke production and rallying skills in preparation for league and school matches. Advanced Tues/Thurs 4:00-6:00 PM These players compete for school teams and in rookie, local, and super series USTA Tournaments.  The emphasis for this group is to lay a foundation for continued player development to the elite level. Elite Training M TU W TH F This group competes at the highest levels of Junior tennis; Designated, Sectionals, Nationals and ITF.  This program is designed around the individual’s desire to develop into a college or professional player.
